More than 200 hurt after fire in Taiwan water park
At least 205 people were injured, 82 seriously, in an explosion on Saturday (June 27) evening at a recreational water park in New Taipei, Taiwan, the country's official Central News Agency reported.
The fire at Formosa Water Park in Bali District happened around 8.30pm and was quickly brought under control, CNN said.
The cause of the fire had yet to be determined.
Several victims, some of whom suffered burns of over 40 per cent, were sent to different hospitals for treatment.
The report said there was still injured people waiting at the park awaiting treatment, Focus Taiwan news channel reported.
The park was having a “Color Play Asia” party when the accident happened.
Some people attending the party posted on Facebook that the fire began after a large volume of powder spewed into the air.
