All ready to walk the talk
The New Paper Big Walk 2014 is coming up and the response has been overwhelming.
This year, there have also been many group sign-ups, including those from Certis Cisco, SingPost and Huawei.
Mr Richard Lau, chairman of the Certis Cisco Sports and Recreation, told The New Paper that they have been encouraging their staff to take part in sporting events and activities through sponsorships and subsidies.
He said: "We want to give our staff more opportunities to enjoy, interact and bond in a relaxed and healthy setting. The New Paper Big Walk has always been an iconic event and it's a great avenue for us to do this."
Ms Humadevi Arumugam, 32, an administrative officer at Certis Cisco, said the Big Walk is a good way to spend quality time with her colleagues.
She said: "I'm very excited about the Big Walk. The best part is receiving the free T-shirt and to be able to walk on the Benjamin Sheares Bridge as well."
SingPost will also be attending The New Paper Big Walk this year, with more than 270 employees and their family members taking part.
The company had joined Big Walk once before, in 2005.
A SingPost spokesman said: "We see the Big Walk as part of our staff engagement activity and walking is a popular and easy activity for all ages."
Ms Yong Lee Lee, 40, vice-president of People Operations & Developmentat SingPost, will be there with her husband and her son.
WEATHER
She said: "This is the second time I'm taking part in the Big Walk. Hopefully, the weather will be good."
The New Paper Big Walk 2014's multi-media partner, Huawei, is looking forward to the event as well.
Mr Low Han Thong, Huawei Singapore's head of devices, said: "We are very excited as we are one of the official sponsors for the first time.
"We are also very proud to be part of this meaningful event, together with the public."
The New Paper Big Walk 2014 is on Nov 30 and is presented by the Singapore Turf Club. It is the first time participants will be walking on the Benjamin Sheares Bridge.
