SEA Games: Fun facts about Fandi Ahmad, the Games
Football legend Fandi Ahmad has not won a SEA Games gold.
He has made nine appearances at the Games, scored in all three semi-finals that Singapore won and banged home the equaliser in the 1989 final before the team went down 3-1 to Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
His record: Three silvers and three bronzes.
Even so, he was our nation's pride for almost two decades.
He was the man who scored the winner against Selangor in Singapore’s Malaysia Cup triumph of 1980.
He was the one who led Singapore to the historic triumph over Pahang in the Malaysia Cup final in 1994
And just last month, he coached the LionsXII to victory in the Malaysian FA Cup.
Who knew the kid who sold nasi-lemak to help his parents make ends meet would become our nation's first millionaire footballer?
