TNP New Face: Last year's finalists share tips for walk-in auditions
It can be daunting but there are plenty of ways to make your audition go well.
Last year's TNP New Face finalists share tips for walk-in auditions
SMILE
Ms Jessica Lim, 23, an accounting and finance student from the University of London, said: "Wear a smile as you go down that runway."
She did that - even with her braces on.
EXUDE CONFIDENCE
Ms Amanda Lim, 23,a visual communication student at Nanyang Technological University, did research on the industry and models to get ready for the competition.
She even reviewed videos of Tyra Banks teaching contestants on reality TV show America's Next Top Model about posture.
For last year's New Face walk-in auditions, Ms Lim said there were so many contestants and the girls had only 10 seconds to shine with a single walk, so it was a make-or-break situation.
"Be comfortable in your own skin. No heavy make-up, shoulders back, stand tall, and just work what you've got.
"Confidence goes a long way."
For Ms Mira Azman, 20, her past experiences, such as being a member of the silat national team, helped her build confidence on stage.
The personal trainer at Amore Fitness also said that if you have curves, wear something that shows them off.
She said: "You have nothing to lose, just try again next year if you don't make it the first time.
"Practise your walk and when the time comes, strut."
BE YOURSELF
Jurong Junior College student Jun Minook, 18, was anxious on the day of her walk-in audition but she powered on.
She believes you should appeal to the judges with your own distinctive style.
"In my opinion, to be a stand-out is important but what's more important is to show your true self."
Ms Farhana Mazlan, 19, said her freelance modelling background helped with her composure and grace.
The integrated events management student from Republic Polytechnic said: "This competition is not all about being fierce or expressionless.
"It's all about the attitude, charisma, individual style and personality."
Referring to New Face 2013 winner Noelle Woon, she added: "Why do you think Noelle won? It was her gorgeous smile and amazing personality.
"What about my fellow competitor (New Face 2014 winner) Diya Prabhakar? She had poise, elegance and a whole lot of stage presence.
"So my biggest tip is: Show everyone who you truly are."
