It's not often you can describe a miss as spectacular, but then Andre-Pierre Gignac somehow managed the feat.
The Mexican club Tigres UANL striker, who moved from Ligue 1 side Marseille in the summer, was the butt of jokes over the weekend.
Through on goal and with just the goalkeeper from Club America to beat, the 29-year-old Frenchman got his foot stuck in the turf at the most crucial moment before clattering into the unfortunate custodian.
Apart from failing to score what looked a certain goal, he caused some damage to the pitch in the process.
At least he managed to score the winner from the penalty spot prior to his horrendous miss, giving his side a 1-0 win.
