Yoga at the National Gallery, for a good cause
Strike yoga poses while surrounded by art and history?
You can do just that on Saturday, and it is all for a good cause.
Om Is Where The heART Is will see instructors from three yoga studios helm three yoga sessions in one of Singapore's most historical buildings, the National Gallery Singapore.
The event is co-organised by Soulscape and Community Chest, and all proceeds raised will go to the latter, which supports over 5,000 beneficiaries.
This will be the first yoga event held at the National Gallery, and it will take place on the fourth level at the Supreme Court Terrace.
Mr Marc Dass, 35, the co-founder of health and wellness community platform Soulscape said: "The event is about giving back to those in need while receiving nourishment for the body and a visual treat for the mind. It will be a great way to spend the weekend."
The event is made up of three consecutive sessions that will last around an hour each.
The sessions will be helmed by instructors from Yoga Mandala, Yoga Plus and Yoga Lab.
Ms Sara Wee, the lead singer of local band 53A, will be co-leading a session with her team from Yoga Mandala.
Ms Wee, 29, who has been a yoga instructor for two years, said: "It will be interesting to do yoga in the National Gallery. It is a really beautiful place.
"Given the kind of classes that we teach, the event is definitely going to be full of fun and energy."
Other instructors include Ms Jasmine Chong, the founder of Yoga Lab, and Ms Jessica Sinclair, a co-founder of Yoga Mandala.
Ms Sinclair, 33, said: "We want to give back to society, and we are looking for avenues to give back.
"This is one way, and we are really happy to contribute."
The organisers have a target of 500 participants for all three sessions .
One of the participants is Ms Melissa Mak, 35, a lecturer.
She said: "The National Gallery is such a unique place. Doing yoga there will definitely be a very different experience."
