PLAQUE MARKS BOWIE'S FORMER BERLIN HOME

A plaque honouring the late English singer David Bowie was unveiled on Monday at his Berlin home.

The music icon, who died in January, lived in the German city for a few years in the 1970s while he worked on the albums Low, Heroes and Lodger.

Fans gathered at the building, laying flowers and candles outside, before Berlin mayor Michael Mueller unveiled the plaque reading, "David Bowie (1947-2016) lived in this house 1976-1978". The plaque also quotes a famous line from his song Heroes ("We can be heroes, just for one day").

Mueller told the crowd: "One can say David Bowie and West Berlin had quite a special partnership."

Malaysian influencer-entrepreneur Vivy Yusof and her husband Fadzarudin Shah Anuar were charged in court on Dec 5 with criminal breach of trust.

BARTON TOLD TO PAY $270,000 FOR DITCHING ROLE

British-US actress Mischa Barton has reportedly been ordered to pay US$200,000 (S$270,00) after she bailed on a movie to go on holiday.

The 30-year-old will have to fork out this amount to writer-producer Daniel Lief after he sued her for dropping out of the film Promoted.

Lief saw pictures of her on social media travelling around Europe and claimed the delay in production and the need to recast the lead role cost him more than US$300,000.

According to the original filing, he claimed Barton's actions during scheduled filming dates in March 2014 were a "cavalier" breach of contract and that she was "unjustly enriched due to (her) unlawful behaviour".

JAPANESE MOVIE SHIN GODZILLA TO BE SHOWN IN IMAX

Shin Godzilla will be the first Japanese blockbuster in Singapore to be released in Imax.

It has been 12 yearssince the last Japanese adaptation of the same name.

The iconic king of monsters is finally revived in this movie by director-scriptwriter Hideaki Anno of the famed Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise.

Opening here tomorrow, Shin Godzilla is about how an unknown source causes a catastrophic accident in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, leading to irreparable damage and massive flooding.

Soon after, a gigantic creature emerges and terrorises the towns, much to everyone's horror.

PALOMA FAITH EXPECTING FIRST CHILD

English singer-songwriter Paloma Faith, 35, is expecting her first child with her boyfriend of two years, the French artist Leyman Lahcine.

The coach and judge on reality TV singing series The Voice UK will be taking a break from the show to focus on motherhood.

In a handwritten post on her website, Faith wrote: "I have spent my whole life wanting to be a mother and now the time has come for me to do so. I feel so lucky.

She said her fourth album, The Architect, will not be released this year as she will be taking "a short while off" to have her baby.

KIEFER SUTHERLAND RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM

Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland has embarked on a music career.

The 49-year-old described the sound of his debut album Down In A Hole, which was released last week, as "Americana singer-songwriter with a country kick".

He co-wrote all 11 tracks with long-time friend, producer Jude Cole.

His first single, Not Enough Whiskey, is about his battle with alcohol abuse.

Sutherland started writing songs when he was a teen, after his actor-father Donald Sutherland bought him a guitar.
