Eat a banana, support the fight against racism.

After Barcelona's Dani Alves was captured on camera eating a banana thrown onto the pitch by a racist football fan during a La Liga match against Villarreal, people around the world have been getting their own fix of the yellow fruit to support the Brazilian defender.

Brazil legend Roberto Carlos, himself a victim of banana throwing in the past, also lent his support via his official Instagram account.

Players, coaches, fans, TV presenters and even Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi have all gotten in on the act in a show of solidarity against racism while hashtags #WeAreAllMonkeys and #SayNoToRacism have cropped up all over social media.
