Grants for Active Enabler initiatives
One unique component of the GetActive! Singapore initiative is the Active Enabler programme.
Being the first of its kind, the programme provides funding for ground-up proposals for creative, sports-focused lifestyle-driven ideas.
Sport Singapore aims to target people who do not exercise regularly to develop sporting habits and hopes to achieve it through the funding of such ideas.
Such ideas will also encourage the public to play a part in the National Day celebrations by organising and taking part in innovative activities islandwide.
Open to anyone who believes that he has a creative and innovative idea, the grants have been categorised into two groups: projects and mass events.
Successful applicants can expect to be funded up to 90 per cent of qualifying costs, capped at $25,000 for projects or $50,000 for mass events.
Social events that reach out to more than 30 participants will be eligible for the project grant, while events that target more than 200 participants will be eligible for the mass-event grant.
The ideas would require an inspiring and innovative nature and, once funded, will be included as part of the GetActive! Singapore campaign from July 30 to Aug 7.
How to qualify for the grant:
Groups must comprise at least two applicants aged 18 years and above, with at least one being a Singaporean.
Organisations must be registered in Singapore with the Registry of Societies (ROS) or the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra) where a Singaporean applicant is required on behalf of the organisation.
The events/projects will act as platforms that are not only intended for people who exercise regularly but also for those who do not.
Apart from providing funding, the grants also provide sports expertise in terms of fitness instructors and coaches as well as venues for sports events.
Each participant in any of the events will be given a GetActive! Singapore pack, comprising a snack pack and sports souvenir.
Interested applicants have until June 30 to submit their proposals at www.getactive.sg. - HARESH KUMAR RAMANI
The 28th Southeast Asia Games and the 8th Asean Para Games amply demonstrated the power of sport in bringing people together and inspiring pride and celebration as a ‘tribe’ of Singaporeans.
