SEA Games Challenge: TNP takes on football
It is every footballer’s dream to train and play with the national team. Those of us at The New Paper sports desk who play football are no different.
My colleague Sazali Abdul Aziz kept Singapore Polytechnic’s goal safe, while I was scoring goals for fun at Nanyang Junior College.
Fate, however, conspired to rob us of our talents through injuries — Sazali suffered a dislocated shoulder while I tore anterior cruciate ligaments in both knees.
But this SEA Games has provided us with the rare opportunity to prove what we are capable of, as we take on a quartet of Young Lions — Anumanthan Mohan Kumar, Faris Ramli, Adam Swandi and Irfan Fandi Ahmad — in a series of football challenges.
The New Paper team approached football — and eight other sports — to create video previews for our readers. Over the next week, TNP will roll out videos in which we interview the athletes and, in a few, spar with them.
The result? Watch on and find out.
