Singapore secures first gold through table tennis
Singapore secured its first gold medal at the 28th South-east Asia Games this (June 2) after both of the Republic's table tennis women's doubles pairs progressed to the final at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Women's singles world No. 4 Feng Tianwei paired up with Yu Mengyu to thrash Malaysia's Ho Ying and Lee Rou You 11-9, 11-7, 11-8, 11-4 to make the final at the same venue at 7pm later tonight.
However, fellow Singaporeans Lin Ye and Zhou Yihan had to work for their place in the final, losing the first two games before coming back to beat Thailand's Nanthana Komwong and Suthasini Sawettabut 7-11, 9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 10-12, 11-6, 11-8.
