That awkward moment when Victoria Beckham met Samuel L. Jackson
There was some major awkwardness at the men's singles final match of the Wimbledon Championships on Sunday.
No, this has nothing to do with Novak Djokovic's epic win over Roger Federer. We're not talking about how close Djokovic came to "achieving" six defeats in seven slam finals either.
Instead, our eyes were set on a very awkward pair seated side by side in the Royal Box on Centre Court at The All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon, southwest London.
We're looking at you, Victoria Beckham and Samuel L. Jackson.
The pair were caught in this hilarious Vine clip with all the standard cues of awkwardness - head scratching, avoiding eye contact and fidgeting.
It seems like wife of former England footballer David Beckham and the US actor didn't hit it off, though that's really not at all surprising. After all, what do they have in common?
Also, David is the charming one, not Victoria, so we forgive her for the awkwardness.
But Jackson, Jackson, we expected more from you.
The 65-year-old should have asked Victoria for some fashion tips. (Whether he'll ever use them is a different matter.),
Should the two ever meet again, we have some ideas what the pair can chat about.
1. The weather
Don't knock it till you've tried it. Talking about the weather is surprisingly effective, especially if the weather has been particularly irritating.
Just take the very hot and humid past week, for example.
Did you know we had to turn on the air-conditioning? Our bills are definitely going through the roof this month. Do you think it's going to cool any time soon? See, easy peasy.
And with London's erratic weather, it really wouldn't be that hard.
2. The kids
Victoria has four kids. Hello, that's like the easiest in, ever.
All mothers like talking about their children. It's harder to get them to stop than it is to get them started. Jackson should totally try this.
And Victoria, no one is going to blame a mother for babbling about her kids. We've come to think of it as a horrible habit that comes with being a mum. So go ahead, blab away. It can't turn out any worse than the awkward silence.
3. The event
The next time they bump into each other, or are forced to sit next to each other, well, it's probably going to be at some event. So talk about the event.
How was the traffic like getting there, how excited you are about the event, who invited you, what's your plan after. And if it's another tennis match, who you're rooting for.
If all that fails, well, we'll settle for awkward silence and more hilarious clips.m
