Drama! Floyd Mayweather v 50 Cent in social media war
Ding ding ding! Fight!
Let's summarise this saga for you.
It all started when US rapper 50 Cent challenged (sarcastically, of course) US professional boxer Floyd Mayweather in an Instagram video to read a page of a Harry Potter book without stopping or stuttering.
Jimmy Kimmel got in the middle of it all by calling 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, to say that if Mayweather accepted the challenge, he would like to put it on his talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Then 50 Cent upped the stakes when he updated his Instagram with a video that said "...we don't want to put pressure on you. We know you can't read those words in the Harry Potter book, so we're gonna let you read Cat in the Hat".
But Mayweather's reply was rather disappointing.
Instead of taking on the challenge to prove he's not a dimwit, the 37-year-old undefeated, five-division world champion's reply was nothing but showy. A picture of two recently received pay cheques that added up to over US$72 million (S$90 million).
A video reply came shortly after with the In Da Club rapper ranting: "I guess you want people to see your math is better then your reading. Get a account Floyd, the people around you are using you. If you mad at me call me or come see me."
What's going to happen next? We'll keep you updated.
