Katy Perry may write songs about John Mayer break-up
Looks like Katy Perry is taking a page from the Taylor Swift guide to songwriting.
According the Los Angeles Times, the US singer hinted to Cosmopolitan magazine that she may pen songs about her break-up from singer-songwriter John Mayer earlier this year.
"There's no bad blood," she said. "But I'm sure there will be inspired songs."
Mayer, who's never found a topic he doesn't have an opinion on, responded pretty quickly.
“I have super strength for gang-ups, I’m fine,” he told TMZ when asked about Perry's quotes.
“That’s what you’re supposed to do, man, you’re supposed to write songs. You’re just not supposed to tell everybody you’re doing it.”
Three, two, one ... fight!
The 35-year-old Mayer is no stranger to being the subject of heartbreak songs - Taylor Swift reportedly wrote the song Dear John about him.
He allegedly responded in kind with the song Paper Doll, off his last album Paradise Valley
He added snarkily: "I actually want everybody’s song to go #1. I purposely stopped writing hits to give other people a chance to have #1 songs.”
Now, who says men can't be catty?
