Korean heart-throb Kim Hyun Joong fined almost $7,000 for beating up girlfriend
The last we heard of Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong, who had physically assaulted his girlfriend last year, was that he seemed to have gotten away scot-free after making a public apology.
But guess what? This week, the Korean media reported that Kim, 28, had actually been fined USD$5,000 ($6,670) for the violent deed.
Website DramaFever said that because Kim admitted to one instance of laying his hands on her, the prosecution proceeded to charge him for that single assault case.
So much for the Boys Over Flowers star's apology, which was carried in The Korea Times.
KDramaStars reported that the apology read:
"I′m embarrassed at myself for doing something that a man should never do," he said in his apology.
"Since this incident occurred entirely because of my mistakes, there is no reason for her to be blamed.
"I want to also say sorry to her family and friends. More than anything, I hope she will accept my apology and forgive me.
"As a result of this incident, I'll work harder to become a better and healthier person."
