Malaysian rocker Awie pleads not guilty to the charge of domestic abuse
Ahmad Azhar Othman or better known by his stage name, Awie, was charged by a Malaysian court on Friday (July 4) with causing grevious hurt to his wife Rozana Misbun.
The 46-year-old has pleaded not guilty and is claiming trial The Star reported.
His bandmates from Wings were also in court when the charges were read out to him.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Awie was out on bail after going to the Malaysian police to give his statement about the allegations that he had beaten up his wife.
It has emerged that Awie allegedly committed the act at a house in Hulu Kelang near Ampang, Kuala Lumpur
After emerging from the court, he told The Star that he had not expected to be charged in court.
"If my career ends here, I will accept it."
If found guilty under Malaysian law, he face a maximum jail term of seven years or a fine.
