Is he the next Spider-Man?
The search for a new Spider-Man has gone to the next level.
According to The Wrap, Sony Pictures and Marvel have narrowed down their list of contenders to a group of up-and-coming actors that includes Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James.
Producer Kevin Feige recently said Spider-Man would be a high-school aged Peter Parker, so these young men would fit the bill.
Whoever is the chosen one is expected to have a cameo in Captain America: Civil War, which reported will start filming very soon.
So who are these rising actors who may follow the footsteps of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to be the web slinger?
Nat Wolff
Last seen in The Fault In Our Stars, this lanky US actor (above) will be starring in another John Green adaptation Paper Towns (opening here July 23), co-staring English model Cara Delevingne.
The 20-year-old talent has won the heart of the coveted teen market, stealing scenes in The Fault In Our Stars, which saw him win two Teen Choice awards.
Following Paper Towns, Wolff will be sharing the big screen with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in The Intern (Sep 24).
Asa Butterfield
At 18, this Brit has already bagged leading roles in The Boy In The Striped Pajamas (2008), Hugo (2011) and Ender's Game (2013).
He's currently filming Tim Burton's Peregrine's Home For Peculiars where he's playing, what else, the main protagonist Jacob.
Tom Holland
He wowed in The Impossible where he held his own against Naomi Watts in the 2012 Oscar-nominated film, earning him numerous Best Newcomer laurels in the process.
The 18-year-old Brit's next Hollywood project is Ron Howard's In The Heart Of The Sea, starring Chris Hemsworth.
Timothée Chalamet
You'd have noticed this 20-year-old US actor if you follow TV series Homeland.
On the big screen, he played Matthew McConaughey's son in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
Liam James
This 18-year-old Canadian broke out in the hit independent movie The Way Way Back, starring opposite Steve Carell and Toni Collette.
But like Chalamet, James found his foothold on the small screen through the TV series The Killing.
