Movie Review: AMERICAN HEIST (M18)
There are only two reasons to watch American Heist: Seeing the usually refined Adrien Brody play a gangster, and enjoying the blisteringly good rap and R&B soundtrack picked by Akon.
The plot follows James (Hayden Christensen) and Frankie (Brody), a pair of criminal brothers.
When Frankie is released from prison, he convinces James to help him pull off one last big bank job.
I have always blamed Christensen for ruining the character of Darth Vader in the Star Wars prequels, and he is equally lacklustre here as a good kid gone bad.
Brody, though, is magnificent as a trash-talking but sensitive thug, and his love for his brother is genuinely touching.
Still, the rest of this crime drama is predictable - people steal and drive cars really fast, chase girls and ultimately get shot.
Just play Grand Theft Auto 5 instead.
