Movie Review: Ice Age: Collision Course
The animated franchise has veered so far off course that it bears little resemblance to the 2002 movie that started it all.
Thanks to the acorn-loving Scrat (voiced by Chris Wedge), asteroids are sent hurling towards Earth.
Mammoth Manny (Ray Romano) and his gang attempt to prevent the collision.
By trying to squeeze an ever-expanding roster of characters into its thin plot, this fifth instalment reduces even franchise favourites like Sid (John Leguizamo) and Diego (Denis Leary) into expandable supporting roles.
It is too formulaic to be of any real interest.
What is left is an overused plot driven by slapstick humour and a handful of humorous references.
It might be enough to entertain the kids, but that's where the fun stops for the rest of us.
