Movie Review: Office Christmas Party

OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY (M18)
The line-up will excite comedy fans. There's the ever reliable Jason Bateman, Saturday Night Live veteran Kate McKinnon, goofy eye-candy Olivia Munn and award-winning comic TJ Miller.
And then there's Jennifer Aniston, who is one funny lady.
So why is it that when you put these veterans together, you get such an unfunny, try-hard flick?
Blame it on the story, which begins promisingly but derails after one too many plot points.
Aniston's stiff and stuffy interim CEO Carol wants to lay off the majority of her brother Clay's (Miller) company, as the branch hasn't been meeting her sales target.
Clay may be inept but unlike Carol, he's a people person and is determined to defy his sister at all cost.
Together with good pal and high-ranking employee Josh (Bateman) and tech geek Tracey (Munn), the trio conspire to land a multi-million dollar deal via organising the most outrageous office Christmas party ever.
The plot really doesn't matter here. There are some hilarious moments, but some party-goers just go out of control after one too many drinks, and the same can be said about the comedy.
This is one movie which you either love or hate. I fall under the latter category, but that's just me.
The movie opened at No. 2 at the US box office after all.
