Movie Review: San Andreas (PG13)
Dwayne Johnson is a true-blue superhero.
And director Brad Peyton is clearly in awe of his Journey 2: The Mysterious Island collaborator, pitting him against all kinds of disasters.
Johnson is Ray, a decorated rescue helicopter pilot who saves his daughter Blake (Alexandra Daddario), who is trapped in San Francisco after a powerful magnitude 9.1 earthquake destroys the city.
He's joined by estranged wife Emma (Carla Gugino), and they make their treacherous journey through California, battling aftershocks, falling buildings, looters and a tsunami.
The plot is implausible and the situations even more preposterous.
This latest Hollywood disaster movie has some great visuals, but with Johnson going through the motions, you know he's going to save the day.
And that just takes away all the thrills.
