Singer Zamani Slam: Cops didn't force me to sing (while handcuffed), I did it for my fans
Former Slam vocalist Zamani Ibrahim said that the police did not force him to sing when he was detained in lockup on Wednesday (Jan 21).
Instead, he was doing it voluntarily for his fans.
A video of the Malaysian singing while he was detained at the District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Ampang Jaya went viral on social media.
It showed the former lead singer of the 90s band Slam singing Gerimis Mengundang, one of the band's hit songs, while in handcuffs.
But Zamani told the media today:
"I was not forced to sing, I sang after they told me that they were hardcore Slam fans.
"They asked me to sing for them and promised that the recording was only for their personal use."
According to earlier media reports, the singer and a female companion were arrested for alleged drug possession during a raid.
