Radio was a big hit on the radio for Williams, his sixth number one on the UK Singles Chart. The song was the first single from Williams' Greatest Hits compilation, and also topped the charts in Portugal and Denmark, and hit the top 10 across Europe.
That was then ...
Radio would be Williams' last No. 1 for eight years until the release of Candy in 2012. He followed up his greatest hits album with five more original albums, all of which hit No. 1 in the UK with the exception of 2009's Reality Killed The Video Star, which hit No. 2. But none had the critical appeal of his previous work.
Meanwhile, Williams busied himself with his new family. He married Turkish American actress Ayda Field in 2010, and they have two children, Theodora Rose, four, and Charlton Valentine, who will turn two later this month.
This is now ...
Williams is back to entertain us with new album Heavy Entertainment Show, which will feature collaborations with Ed Sheeran and The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers.
"I was musing over the phrase 'light entertainment' - all the huge TV shows from when I was a kid, 30 million people watching them," he told The Sun recently. "That's what I'm hoping to do with this album - to have a shared experience with millions of people though the medium of light entertainment… but on steroids."
No surprises that showman Williams has already kicked off the fun. The music video for his single Party Like A Russian, where he poses like an oligarch, has seemingly angered Russian president Vladimir Putin so much that he has been banned from performing in the country, reports the Daily Star.
He will also be receiving the Brits Icon Award next month.
Heavy Entertainment Show will be released early next month.
