A cab crashed into the carpark wall on the fourth storey of Chinatown Complex on Sunday afternoon, sending debris falling to a lower floor of the building, which houses a market and hawker centre.
Mr Luo Fu Xing, 76, a cleaner, was nearly hit by the debris while he was having tea with a friend at the hawker centre, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Mr Luo said he heard a loud sound and saw pieces of stone falling around him. Some of the debris measured up to 20cm long.
The driver of the taxi, who declined to be named, told Lianhe Wanbao she had hit the accelerator by mistake.
