'Drunk' squirrel goes nuts, wrecks private bar
The story you're about to read is real, not a joke.
When secretary Sam Boulter walked into a private members' club last Sunday (July 12) evening, he was shocked to see the floor covered in beer.
There were broken glasses and smashed bottles strewn around.
Mr Boulter, 62, thought someone had broken into the Honeybourne Railway Club in Worcestershire, England.
But that suspicion quickly died when he saw a squirrel coming out from behind a box of potato chips and "staggering around".
He told the BBC:
"There were bottles scattered around, money scattered around and he had obviously run across the bar's pumps and managed to turn on the Caffrey's tap.
"He must have flung himself on the handle and drank some as he was staggering around all over the place and moving a bit slowly."
Mr Boulter and two customers spent two hours trying to capture the furry fiend and cleaning up the mess.
He said:
"I've never seen a drunk squirrel before. He was sozzled and looked a bit worse for wear, shall we say."
He eventually trapped the creature with a waste paper basket and flung it out of the window.
The squirrel-inflicted damages cost the club around £300 ($641).
