Fibre network outage caused by contractors involved in MRT construction
The high-speed fibre broadband network in central and western parts of Singapore went down on Thursday morning (June 11).
Network builder NetLink Trust said in a statement that the outage was caused by Land Transport Authority contractors involved in the construction of the MRT.
It said: "NetLink Trust detected a network outage affecting the vicinity around Bukit Merah, Outram, Tanjong Pagar and Tiong Bahru, which occurred at approximately 10.40am today."
NetLink Trust, formerly OpenNet, added: "Restoration service has commenced, and service has been progressively restored. NetLink Trust is working with all relevant parties to ensure that the service is restored at the affected areas as soon as possible."
Singtel said in a Facebook post that the fibre infrastructure was damaged by a third party contractor conducting foundation work.
It added: "Netlink Trust estimates that services will be restored by midnight."
