Kopitiam has fired a member of its staff from its outlet at the National University Hospital (NUH) after she had been caught on camera washing her boots in a sink meant for food preparation.

The video of the incident - which was posted on Sunday (June 22) by Facebook user Queenie Here - went viral, attracting more than 450,000 views and nearly 22,000 shares.

In it, the person who posted the video said she was planning on ordering dessert until she saw the employee washing her boots. "Feeling sick," she added.

Earlier today (June 23), Kopitiam released a statement on its Facebook page, announcing that it had sacked the employee involved while apologising to customers.

The coffeeshop chain added that it had replaced that washing equipment and sterilised the sink involved and that it will conduct an investigation into the matter.

Dear Customers,With regard to the incident in our food court located at NUH, we would like to apologize for this...
