Prosecution wants more jail time for all 6 City Harvest Church leaders
The prosecution filed notices of appeal on Friday (Nov 27) against the sentences imposed on all six City Harvest Church (CHC) leaders.
In a press release, the Attorney General's Chambers called the sentences "manifestly inadequate".
The six church leaders – Kong Hee, 51, Tan Ye Peng, 42, Chew Eng Han, 55, Serina Wee, 38, John Lam, 47, and Sharon Tan, 40 – were found guilty and convicted of criminal breach of trust and falsification of accounts on Oct 21.
They were handed jail sentences of between 21 months and eight years last Friday (Nov 20).
The prosecution had asked for longer jail terms ranging from five to 12 years.
