Singaporean to hang for Pahang murder
Cabby, who killed wife's alleged lover, sentenced in M'sia yesterday
A Singaporean cabby charged with murdering his wife's alleged lover was sentenced to death in Malaysian courts yesterday.
Quah Tee Keon killed 32-year-old Chinese national Ruan Chao Kiang, who was his Malaysian wife Loong Mei Ling's former colleague, in a two-storey house in Pahang at 3.30am on Oct 13, 2013.
Ms Loong, then 33, claimed that Quah had attacked Mr Ruan before stabbing her in the right lung, reported The New Paper in October 2013.
She also had wounds on her neck, hands and back.
Malaysian media reported then that Ms Loong had returned to her Pahang home in September 2013 because of family problems.
She claimed it was because Quah had physically abused her in Singapore, so she returned to her hometown with their three sons, then aged between two and six.
Quah, then 47, had found Mr Ruan, who was in his underwear, with Ms Loong in his house in Triang.
Mr Ruan worked as a sales supervisor with a vegetarian food supplier.
The men started arguing, and Quah slashed Mr Ruan, leaving him with multiple wounds.
Quah then turned to attack his wife, who managed to lock herself in a room and call her brother for help.
The enraged husband then left the house.
Their eldest and youngest sons were in the house at the time of the attack.
Ms Loong was later hospitalised in the intensive care unit.
MANHUNT
Quah surrendered to the Malaysian police after a 15-day manhunt, according to a report in The Star in November 2013.
Quah and Ms Loong registered their marriage in 2004 and moved to a new flat in Woodlands Avenue 1 in the middle of 2012.
They were known to have had loud and sometimes physical fights, according to their neighbours.
