TNP New Face 2016: Ashley Rita Wong
Ashley Rita Wong, 23
English literature graduate from the National University of Singapore
Ashley first started playing
Dota 2 in 2013 after watching her university hall friends play the multiplayer online game - and has been hooked on it since. She said: "Even after three years, I still learn new things and the game's graphics are absolutely beautiful."
Is there anything else you are obsessed with?
It's a toss-up between animals and gaming; it's really difficult to choose one. What else is interesting about you?
I have joint hypermobility, which gives me unnatural flexibility: I can bend my fingers all the way backwards. I realised I was much more flexible than my friends and I used to gross them out with weird things my fingers can do. It was only recently that I realised what it was called when I was diagnosed with mild Marfan syndrome, a connective tissue disorder where joint hypermobility is a symptom.
What are your biggest pet peeves?
Grammatical errors and people standing on the wrong side of the escalator.
Where is your favourite place to hang out?
Creamier in Toa Payoh. The earl grey lavender ice cream and waffles never fail to make me incredibly happy.
Who do you look to for style tips?
(Social media influencers) Jenn Im, Trishna G. and Aimee Cheng-Bradshaw. Jenn has an incredibly bubbly, down-to-earth and positive personality that is so contagious, and it comes through in her videos and pictures. I came across Trishna's Instagram this year and I want to emulate her no-fuss elegant style when I start a career. Aimee is a drop-dead gorgeous woman who's my local role model (pun intended).
