WATCH: PAP candidate Koh Poh Koon performs CPR on unconscious man at Ang Mo Kio
UPDATE:
A spokesman for Khoo Teck Puat Hospital said that the Chinese man who collapsed in Ang Mo Kio died at the A&E department at 10am.
The man was in his 70s.
People's Action Party candidate Koh Poh Koon performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a man who collapsed at a food centre in Ang Mo Kio on Sunday morning (Sept 6).
Facebook user Lee Junior wrote: "Heart-stopping (no pun intended) scene of Dr Koh Poh Koon trying to resuscitate a resident who collapsed due to heart attack at AMK Blk 724 Food Centre, before rescue workers arrived... Please pray for the resident!"
A man, known only as Simon, witnessed the incident and wrote to citizen journalism website Stomp saying: "I suspect the man suffered a heart attack and the PAP men happened to be around and one of them rushed to help.
"He went on his knees and started pumping his chest. About 10 minutes later, the paramedics came and started resuscitation.
"I hope that man is fine. Well done."
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident at 7.57am. It took the unconscious man in his 60s to Khoo Teck Puat hospital.
The man's condition is not known at this point of time.
Dr Koh, 43, is a colorectal surgeon and a PAP candidate for Ang Mo Kio GRC.
He previously contested in the 2013 Punggol East by-election and was defeated by Workers' Party candidate Lee Li Lian.
