120 drug offenders arrested in 7-day islandwide operation
A total of 120 drug offenders were arrested in a seven-day islandwide operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
CNB seized about 223g of heroin, 45g of ‘Ice’, 394g of cannabis, 29g of ketamine, 17 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets and 10 Erimin-5 tablets during the operation.
Cigarettes believed to contain synthetic cannabis were also seized. The drugs are estimated to be worth $38,000.
Supported by officers from the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the operation, which lasted from April 20 to April 27, was conducted in various locations across Singapore including Bedok, Bendemeer, Boon Lay, Geylang, Jalan Bukit Merah, Jurong, Marsiling, Pasir Ris, Serangoon, Toa Payoh, Woodlands and Yishun.
Two suspected drug traffickers, a 66-year-old Singaporean male and a 39-year-old Singaporean male, were arrested during the operation,
In one of the operations conducted in the early hours of April 22, CNB officers raided the hideout of the 66-year-old suspected drug trafficker in the vicinity of Bedok North.
A total of about 74g of heroin, a small amount of ‘Ice’, cash amounting to $34,345, a digital weighing scale and empty plastic packets were seized from the unit where the 66-year-old suspect was hiding.
In a separate operation conducted on the same day, a 26-year-old suspected drug abuser was arrested in a private housing estate in Jurong East.
Investigations led to the arrest of the 39-year-old suspected drug trafficker in Geylang Lorong 3.
He was brought to his Geylang flat where officers found 29g of ketamine, 27g of ‘Ice’, numerous ‘Ecstasy’ and Erimin-5 tablets, and cigarette sticks suspected to contain synthetic cannabis.
Investigations on the two suspected drug traffickers are ongoing.
