How to ace that New Face audition
New Face 2014 finalists share their tips and experience
Tomorrow is the final chance you can advance to Round 2 of The New Paper New Face 15.
Presented by Subaru MotorImage, the official apparel for the event is Levi's and official footwear and accessories is New Look.
With an open audition catering to girls of all ages, what can you do to shine?
The Walk-In audition will take place from 2pm at Bugis+.
We spoke to those who went through the audition last year and ended up as finalists, to share their tips and experience.
GRACE LING, 18
Student at the School of The Arts:
"You'll never go wrong with the basics. Wear a black or white tank top with denim shorts or jeans, and nude or black pumps.
"Show off what you have because it's going to be the thing that makes you stand out.
"So if you have long legs, show off your legs."
JASMINE SIM, 22
New Face 14 runner up and Singapore Management University student:
"Don't wear too much make-up and just try to stay calm on stage even though it gets super nerve-racking.
"Going with a friend might help because you can calm each other down.
"Don't think so much about winning, just be happy to be part of the process, make friends with the girls and it'll go over smoothly."
TIARA SKADIANG, 21
Singapore Institute of Technology undergraduate:
"Don't cake on too much make up, keep it light and youthful.
"Don't forget to accentuate your best features!
"Also, make sure you keep a lip balm with you."
SYIQAH MARICAN, 20
New Face 14 second runner up Syiqah Marican, sales co-ordinator at I-Science Technology:
"I get shy very easily and this was also my first time auditioning for a modelling competition. Going up the stage in front of many other girls was probably one of the few things I never thought I would do.
"But my family members and my fiance were there to support me.
"It was probably one of the best things I did last year. I wouldn't mind going through it all again!"
ABIGAIL SOMPOLPONG, 20
Singapore Institute of Management University graduate:
"Don't stand out for the wrong reasons - such as exaggerated movements, blowing kisses, waving, walking too fast or too slow, or looking like you couldn't be bothered.
"Look straight at the judges and smile. I learnt from previous years that the judges love bubbly girls who smile and look friendly and at ease.
"Always maintain a good pose and smile even while waiting for the other girls to do the catwalk as the judges could still be looking at you."
NICOLLE LIM, 18
Clean Energy Management student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic:
"Walk in your chosen heels till you are confident.
"Just channel all your energy into that one walk down the runway. Overcoming your nerves matters a lot.
"Be aware of your posture, as well. Remember, at any point in time, someone is watching you, so make sure you flash that sweet smile to the judges."
ANNMARIE PANG, 23
National University of Singapore graduate:
"I picked something simple to wear, and a pair of comfortable black heels. You got to let yourself stand out and not the clothes right?
"I just threw away my nerves and walked out on that runway in front of hundreds of people.
"I made friends while waiting in the queue too, and talking to them helped with the nerves!"

This is the first time New Face is conducting such a workshop. You'll get a seat if you have already registered but everyone else can watch from the side.
Get tips on how to do your makeup for casting, how to get your best-fit jeans and how to walk to impress.
WALK-IN AUDITIONS
Registration: 2pm - 3pm
This is your final chance to get into this year's New Face.
Wear a fitting top, miniskirt or shorts, high heels and light make-up.
Don't forget to bring a close-up photo of yourself to submit to the New Face team.
