Abhilash has a case pending for allegedly breaching a personal protection order but no details were disclosed in court, reported The Straits Times Online.
A search on the Registry of Marriages website showed that Abhilash and Madam Leong, who is also 44, married on July 8, 2007. It was not stated when they were divorced.
Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao reported that Abhilash and Madam Leong, who is now warded at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, have a six-year-old daughter.
It also reported that blood stains could still be seen at the scene when reporters visited it yesterday morning.
Abhilash is expected to be back in court on Nov 3, after the prosecution applied for an adjournment to wait for Madam Leong's medical report.
If convicted, Abhilash can be jailed up to 15 years with a fine or caning.
