Penang police fulfil five-year-old's dream of being a policeman

He is a five-year-old with cancer and his dream is to become a policeman.

So the Penang police department decided to fulfil his dream at least for a day, The Star reported.

Mohd Uzair Amzar Mohd Noor Azlan was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma cancer last year.

The disease is a fast-growing tumour and is associated with impaired immunity.

The boy was thrilled when he was appointed a cop by Penang police chief Commissioner Abdul Rahim Hanafi. Mohd Uzair was presented with a policeman's uniform at the south Seberang Prai district police headquarters on Thursday.

At about 10am, the boy was introduced to Mr Abdul Rahim, who
immediately took him to a patrol car and let him sit inside to get a feel of
it.

FULFILLING A DREAM

The little boy was escorted into the hall, where he joined the commissioner and the policemen in singing the national and state anthems, the report said.

In his speech, the commissioner welcomed Mohd Uzair as policeman for a day.

The boy was taken on a tour
of the police headquarters and briefed about the duties of a policeman.

An excited Mohd Uzair also witnessed a march-past and followed the commissioner to inspect the guard of honour.

He and his parents, Mohd Noor Azlan Ahmad, 46, and Zakiah Mohd Yusof, 38, went for a short drive in a patrol car, driven by Mr Abdul Rahim himself.

"I am very happy to be able to fulfil a little boy's dream," said the commissioner, before presenting Mohd Uzair with a toy patrol car.
