Grandeslam winner
US singer Ariana Grande reminded us why she's at the top of her game at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards
Pint-sized she may be, but underestimate the 1.53m-tall Ariana Grande at your peril.
Never mind that the 23-year-oldUS singer was nominated for five VMAs, but went home empty-handed.
Or that she has just been slapped with a lawsuit for allegedly copying the Skye Stevens song Takes All Night for her 2015 single One Last Time.
She has the killer combination of talent, looks and smarts, and she made a splash at this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), performing new single Side To Side with US rapper Nicki Minaj.
With her third album, Dangerous Woman, which spawned the singles Into You and the title track, under her belt, and with her personal life looking good as well, Grande appears to be on top of her game.
SHE GAVE A KILLER PERFORMANCE
Yes, Beyonce's show-stopping, headline-hogging Lemonade medley at the VMAs sent chills down our spine.
But Grande's duet with Minaj in their reggae-tinged single Side To Side was fierce, sexy and empowering, too.
Sure, we know she has the pipes - critics dubbed Grande a "mini Mariah Carey" for her impressive four-octave soprano vocal range.
But she didn't just knock her performance out of the park by hitting the high notes flawlessly, she also brought raw energy and excitement to the show.
While crooning Side To Side, she and her backup dancers pedalled furiously on exercise bikes and swayed seductively to the music. Grande then lifted barbells with a bunch of bodybuilder hunks and did crazy contortions atop a pommel horse.
It was like a sexy Workout Barbie cabaret show. No wonder VMAs correspondents and comedians Key & Peele quipped: "Life goals - be an exercise bike."
Grande and Minaj debuted the MV for Side To Side right after the VMAs, which showcased more sexy gym escapades.
HER PERSONAL LIFE'S LOOKING GOOD
While on the VMAs red carpet, Grande also confirmed her new relationship with 24-year-old US rapper Mac Miller.
Rumours of their romance started a few weeks ago, but the couple have known each other for years and they collaborated on Grande's 2013 hit The Way.
When pre-show host Charlamagne Tha God asked Grande about Miller, Grande said she would "send him your regards".
Charlamagne also asked where Miller was, to which Grande answered: "Being supportive. It's okay to be alone even when you have a boo."
Though coy about elaborating on her "boo", Grande went on to engage in some PDA with Miller at the awards show. The pair were seen laughing and cuddling together.
It's good to see Grande finding love again. She dated US rapper Big Sean for eight months until their break-up last year, and The Wanted member and English singer Nathan Sykes for four months in 2014.
SHE OOZED CONFIDENCE
Grande debuted fresh new bangs alongside her signature high ponytail with a twist: crimped in the middle and two-toned.
It was the perfect complement to her 80s throwback outfit of ruffled off-shoulder crop top and high-waisted pants.
Later, during her Side To Side performance, she rocked a white bra top and pants combo teamed with sky-high pink heels.
On seeing her red carpet ensemble, Fashion Police TV show host Brad Goreskigushed to Grande: "I'm so into you."
And so are we.
