Brompton bikes case: No jail for ex-NPB officer Bernard Lim Yong Soon
The High Court has dismissed an appeal by prosecutors seeking a jail term of three to four months for former National Parks Board officer Bernard Lim Yong Soon, who was fined $5,000 for lying to auditors about his relationship with a bicycle shop director.
Justice Tay Yong Kwang also dismissed Lim's appeal against his conviction, The Straits Times reported on its website.
Lim was found guilty in May of giving false information to a public servant and fined the maximum amount.
Lim had tipped off retailer Bikehop about a tender for foldable bicycles. Bikehop offered to sell 26 Brompton bikes and became the sole bidder.
In 2012, the deal came under intense public scrutiny over the $2,200 price of each bicycle, and Lim was questioned by internal auditors.
