Thousands throng Suntec to see Running Man stars
It's been a year since the cast of popular Korean variety show Running Man came to Singapore as a group.
But their popularity has not waned one bit, as seen from the throngs of fans who turned up at their autograph session at Suntec City mall yesterday afternoon.
More than 5,000 screaming fans, running the gamut from teenagers to housewives, gathered at the east atrium of the shopping centre to catch a glimpse of Running Man stars Ji Suk Jin, Lee Kwang Soo, Song Ji Hyo, Haha and Kim Jong Kook.
The other two cast members Yoo Jae Suk and Gary were not present.
Compared to last year's chaotic event which saw at least one fan fainting, this year's session was a lot more controlled and organised.
Running Man, a Korean variety show which started airing in 2010, sees the seven stars compete in games.
At the one-hour autograph session yesterday, 500 lucky fans had the chance to go on stage to get a signed poster.
Student Dinie Raman, 16, had her poster signed by Haha.
She said: "I was very nervous as this is the first time I am seeing them face-to-face. I was star-struck as Haha is very friendly and cool.
"I really like them because they are so funny on television and extremely popular in Korea.
"I am very happy that I had the chance to see them here."
PRETTY
Student Phoebe Lim, 20, has been watching the show for two years now. She had her poster autographed by the only female member in the group, Song.
"Ji Hyo is very pretty and very friendly, and I am happy that I got to shake her hand," she said.
New episodes of the show air every Friday at 11.45pm on Channel ONE (StarHub Channels 820 and 124, SingTel mio TV Channels 513 and 604) .
