Irene Ang has surgery after health scare
Last December, Irene Ang's personal assistant had discovered that her legs were very swollen and alerted her to it.
But the chief executive of talent agency FLY Entertainment just brushed it off, thinking it was nothing more than water retention.
Ang, 47, then started having the occasional fever which she tried to abate with self-medication.
Her fear?
That her medical condition, which had become too apparent to ignore, had something to do with her heart, lungs and kidney.
In January this year, her swollen legs and now already regular fevers continued to plague her. She finally visited the hospital for a thorough check-up.
The specialist diagnosed her with a meniscus tear in her left knee and a vein blockage in her left leg.
Ang told The New Paper: "As I was diagnosed just before Chinese New Year, I wasn't able to attend to my health.
"This is why I only just had the operation."
Her surgery was a success and she is now recovering at home.
The doctors have advised her to rest for two weeks and to stay away from strenuous activities and exercise.
The active comedienne admitted that it has been difficult just sitting around when there is much that requires her attention.
"Staying away from work is difficult... And my PA is in my house now, there are cheques to sign, drafts to vet and projects to approve.
"Legs cannot move but my mind is moving every minute.
She added: "But I am superbly overwhelmed by all the love and concern.
"I am really thankful to social media as I am able to update everyone on my condition.
"Thank you to all media friends, colleagues, friends, clients for your concerns. Sorry if I couldn’t pick up your call as I was very drowsy yesterday from all the medications."
