Movie Review: The Young Messiah (PG)
I'm always very suspicious of movies about my religion.
How many of them don't contradict the Bible?
The Young Messiah is told from the perspective of a seven-year-old Jesus (played by the cute Adam Greaves-Neal), who moves back to Nazareth with his family after spending his childhood in Egypt.
He finally learns about his prophetic birth and his fate from his overly protective and paranoid mother Mary (Sara Lazzaro).
That alone should trigger alarm bells for those who have attended Sunday School.
Another red flag is that this drama is based on the 2005 novel Christ The Lord: Out Of Egypt, by Interview With The Vampire author Anne Rice, who also wrote erotic novels.
Factual errors aside, The Young Messiah is so flat and clichéd. The direction is lazy, too. It's a miracle it got made in the first place.
