Accused fled to Malaysia after alleged murder of nurse at Circuit Road flat
The Malaysian man allegedly killed his girlfriend in Singapore last monthand then fled across the Causeway.
But Malaysian police managed to arrest Boh Soon Ho, 47, on Monday and handed him over to the Singapore authorities the next day.
Boh, who is believed to be from Malacca, was charged in court yesterday with murdering Chinese national Zhang Huaxiang, 28, in his rental flat on the third storey of Block 70, Circuit Road.
He allegedly committed the offence between 12.54pm on March 21 and 8.40pm the next day.
In 2009, Miss Zhang came to Singapore from Xiangxi village in Hunan, China, to study nursing.
She joined the National University Hospital as a nurse four years later.
Boh arrived at the State Courts yesterday in a gold-coloured car, accompanied by police officers, at around 9am.
Dressed in a dark blue and white striped polo shirt, the slim Singapore permanent resident appeared calm as he stood before District Judge Christopher Goh.
While a police prosecutor presented his case before the court, Boh constantly scanned the gallery.
He has been remanded at the Central Police Division and will be back in court next Thursday.
If convicted of murder, he can be hanged, or jailed for life, and caned.
