TNP New Face Gernice Lee wishes she had a prettier smile
Gernice Lee, 19
Food science and technology student at Singapore Polytechnic
Gernice became a professional model last year, something she considers the most exciting thing that has happened to her. She said: "I decided to just go for it after my family and friends encouraged me to."
And it was a good decision, she said. "I've had many opportunities and have been able to meet different people."

Who do you admire the most?
My 19-year-old cousin, Daren. Unlike me, he is very carefree in whatever he does. He frequently goes through difficult situations, but he makes each situation look easy to handle. Last year, his grandfather died at around the same time that he was having his exams, but he managed to pull through with lots of sleepless nights and achieved good results.
Who do you look up to for style tips?
(US YouTube personality) Olivia Jade. She has a trendy and laid-back style. We are around the same age and the outfits she wears are usually clothes that I would wear too. So whenever I need fashion ideas, I will look at her videos for inspiration.
Even models can have insecurities about their looks. What's yours?
My smile. I would compare my smile to others and think they have a brighter and nicer smile. I think my eyes tend to look very small whenever I smile, which makes me sometimes feel insecure.
If you could travel to anywhere in the world for free, where would you go and why?
I would love to travel to New Jersey in the US because one of my best friends from my secondary school days is living there, and it has been around three years since I last saw her. What is your biggest obsession?
I think I use my mobile phone way too much. When I'm eating, studying or interacting with my friends, I tend to get distracted and will start using it.
