Cyclists praise OCBC Cycle 2015
Some 6,800 cyclists took part in the second day of the two-day OCBC Cycle 2015 yesterday in the Singapore Sports Hub vicinity.
The cyclists (above) took part in two non-competitive categories - some 4,600 rode in the Sportive Ride (42km), while 2,200 cyclists participated in The Straits Times Ride (23km).
The two events, which saw cyclists pass by iconic Singapore landmarks such as the Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and the Singapore Flyer, was well-received by most participants.
Choyston Chua, 18, said: "This is my first time here. The event was very well planned.
"My friends and I ride every Friday night along a similar route so we are very familiar with the roads, but we don't usually get to cycle on the highway.
"With the new shirt, new medal and new experience, we will definitely be back next year."
Adrian Gan, 40, added: "Today's weather was great for the ride.
"The event was well-organised, the scenery was good and I enjoyed the route.
"Overall, it was a great experience for me."
Due to delays in road closures, there was a slight delay of about an hour in the start times of both rides yesterday, but it did not dampen the mood of the cyclists.
OCBC Bank's head of group communications Koh Ching Ching said: "I have been very encouraged by the good feedback.
KEY HIGHLIGHT
"A lot of people enjoyed the route, and ending the rides at the National Stadium was a key highlight for the participants.
"All these little things contributed to the team being able to create a very wonderful experience for the cyclists."
On Saturday, Team Malaysia were crowned the inaugural champion of the OCBC Cycle Speedway SEA Championship, while Joyriders Racing Team 1 were the fastest among 15 local clubs in the OCBC Cycle Speedway Club Championships.
