Ex-Chelsea man Alex signs for Milan
AC Milan have snapped up former Chelsea defender Alex on a free transfer.
The powerful Brazilian centre-back was on the books at Stamford Bridge for eight years, including a three-year loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, before he signed for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2012, Sky Sports reported.
With the French champions buying David Luiz from Chelsea and his contract with the French champions expiring this month, Milan have snapped up Alex on a two-year deal.
The Italian giants are plotting a return to European football following a disappointing season that saw them finish eighth in Serie A.
The 31-year-old told Milan's official website: "I am very pleased to be at Milan and they (former players Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic) have spoken well of the club.
"It is very perfectly organised here and I have spoken a lot with Mr. Galliani when we were on the plane together.
"I played for (former Milan coach Carlo) Ancelotti at Chelsea and at PSG too. He is almost like a father to me, so I thank him for the good things he had said about me.
"I want to start training hard to start the season in the best way to make sure we have a good year and get Milan back into the Champions League."
