The new ladies' Man United shirt is a little bit different... and people aren't happy about it

Manchester United's first jersey of their 10-year collaboration with Adidas has gone swimmingly well, with many fans welcoming the simple old-school retro design.

However, a group of the Old Trafford outfit's female fans aren't entirely happy about the launch because the women's replica shirt is a little bit... different.

The women's shirt has a completely separate collar design, featuring a plunging neckline while lacking the black and red linings that are present on the men's collar.

Under United's previous kit sponsor Nike, the only difference between men's and women's replica kits was the cut of the shirt.

The glaring differences have prompted fans like Helin to accuse United and Adidas of sexism over social media.

Some fans, however, disagreed and suggested that fans unhappy with the women's design could purchase the men's shirt.

Natalie Dickinson posted a photo of herself in the new kit on the Manchester Evening News' Facebook page and said: "I love my shirt. Makes a nice change as I usually feel like I'm being strangled by T-shirts/football shirts.

"It's actually quite flattering and it's not as if they don't have the choice of buying a men's one instead."

While the differences have come as a shock to some Red Devils fans, rolling out different kits for men and women isn't something new for Adidas.

Bayern Munich's 2014/15 and 2015/16 replica jerseys for women feature lower and wider collars compared with the men's shirts.

The same is also true for United's English Premier League rivals, Chelsea.

Adidas have since released a statement to dismiss the allegations, saying: "Adidas provides ‎an adult shirt which is a replica of what the players wear.

"Based on research from fans, we also offer a women's shirt as part of our lifestyle range of products.

"This range has a slightly different design and fit to give fans a choice."
