Terry on Mourinho: 'The very best I have worked with'
"The very best I have ever worked with."
That was how Chelsea captain John Terry described Jose Mourinho on Instagram after the Portuguese manager was sacked on Thursday (Dec 17).
A club statement said that Mourinho had parted company with the Blues by mutual consent after a poor start to the season.
In a dramatic reversal of fortunes, the Blues are just one point away from the relegation zone barely seven months after winning the English Premier League title last season.
While reports said discord among the players led to the manager's departure from Stamford Bridge, Terry, who lifted Chelsea's first title of the EPL era in 2005 during the Portuguese's first spell in charge, was clearly a Mourinho supporter till the end as he posted the following emotional message on Instagram:
After saying his goodbyes on Thursday, Mourinho was seen leaving Chelsea's Cobham training ground, covering his face from the media with his hoodie.
Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has been criticised for his lacklustre performances of late after an impressive start to his Chelsea career, also posted a message of thanks to Mourinho on Twitter.
Fellow Spaniard Caesar Azpilicueta appeared to be distraught by Mourinho's departure as he declared that it was "a sad day".
The full-back blossomed under Mourinho's tutelage to become one of the most consistent players in his position.
