26: Telok Kurau Primary School was founded on Sept 6, 1926 as Telok Kurau English School.

The number "26" is significant as it features in the year the school was founded. Singapore's founding father the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Malaysia's late Prime Minister Tun Hussein Onn were students there in its early years.

The students used recycled paper to create paper maches fishes, joining them together to form the number "26". The number is placed on top of recycled paper rolls and the platform is made of tie-dyed batik cloth to represent the bay.

Why fishes? Before kampongs were phased out in the 1980s, a Malay village called Telok Kurau was located on East Coast Road. The word Telok Kurau means "mango fish bay", as telok is Malay for "bay" and kurau is Malay for "mango fish".
