Movie Review: Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (NC16)
The film spin-off of the beloved long-running BBC TV sitcom is essentially a comedy in bad taste.
Jennifer Saunders' PR agent Edina Monsoon and Joanna Lumley's magazine editor Patsy Stone accidentally push supermodel Kate Moss into a river and are forced to abscond to the south of France with Edina's granddaughter Lola (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) in tow.
The ditzy duo make mad and semi-logical attempts to outrun the cops in hilariously garish outfits.
While the lead actresses have charisma and impeccable chemistry, the film merely shows the shallowness of the fashion industry and two protagonists engaging in all sorts of ridiculous behaviour.
The only redeeming factor is how delightfully mean both of them are.
