Movie Review: The Water Diviner (NC16)
Looking at the credits just now, I was shocked to learn that Russell Crowe isn't just the star of this war drama, but also its director.
The Water Diviner is a very old-fashioned movie, but also super solid.
Crowe stars as a manly Aussie guy whose kids disappeared during the Battle Of Gallipoli.
He goes there to find them, and learns a lot about Turkey and himself along the way.
I love the idea of a father feeling guilty about sending his sons to war.
I'd be crushed.
If anyone's going to go to war, shouldn't we be the ones going to war for our kids?
Anyway, the film is filled with exotic locales, brilliant supporting actors and lots of drama and emotion.
Well done, Crowe.
