Crew goals: Grizzle Grind Crew celebrate third anniversary
Local hip hop collective Grizzle Grind Crew celebrates third anniversary this Saturday
The members of established local hip hop collective Grizzle Grind Crew (GGC) are successful in their solo pursuits.
Officially founded in 2013, the group of nearly 20 members counts the likes of rapper Shigga Shay, Ah Boys To Men stars actor-singer Wang Weiliang and actor-rapper Tosh Zhang as well as comedian Fakkah Fuzz among its crew.
But their solo achievements have not overshadowed the work of the collective, who will be celebrating their third anniversary at Zouk on Saturday.
In fact, every member is instrumental in the careers of their fellow GGC mates and collaborates with each other.
Turntablist-DJ NashD, 26, who founded GGC with Shigga Shay and cameraman-video editor OszKid, told The New Paper: "We always show support for each other's individual careers. We try to be involved in each other's projects as much as we can no matter how busy we get.
"For example, if I face some hurdles in my music work, I will holler at (turntablist) DJ Lenerd and he will lend a hand. When I have a show at a club, Weiliang might start singing, Shigga Shay might come and hype up the crowd for me. It's a really nice feeling to help each other out."
Shigga Shay, 23, added: "We feed off each other's creativity. With so many different people from all walks of life and backgrounds, you will definitely have conflicts. But it's about putting those differences and egos aside and working together."
Beatboxer-singer The Zadoncalls the collective a "brotherhood".

PROVE A CHALLENGE
With a group as large and diverse as GGC, meeting at one place proves a challenge.
The last time they were all together was for a Chinese New Year lo hei and dinner, which they called a "near impossible" feat.
But ideas are constantly thrown around when they meet in smaller groups. Their creative work process is fluid and dynamic.
Fans who turn up for their show on Saturday will see a broad spectrum of GGC's collaborative works.
With the help of their special guest, Malaysian rapper SonaOne, they hope to channel a "traditional hip hop show".
"I guess you could call this a coming-of-age show of sorts. In the last three years, we've grown not only musically, but in terms of our outlook and branding," said DJ NashD.
The group, who released their music video for the song Last Warning last month and their single Lemme Lemme earlier this month, will put out new song Cool With It soon.
The crew's frequent collaborator and producer Shorya Sharma, 24, said: "We get positive vibes around each other and that positivity is how I know we will be successful this year."
"We always show support for each other's individual careers. We try to be involved in each other's projects as much as we can no matter how busy we get."
